Return to What Grounds You
Return to What Grounds You - Meditation & Transcript
Recited by Marisa Lopez
Welcome.
Take a moment to land.
You don’t need to show up a certain way here. There’s no pressure to be calm, centered, or clear. You’re allowed to bring your whole self. Just as you are.
Let’s take a breath.
In through the nose…
And slowly out through the mouth.
Again - in… And out.
And one more time.
The world has been loud lately.
The news.
The urgency.
The constant feeling that something is about to fall apart.
Maybe you’ve felt it in your body;
a tightness in your chest,
a knot in your stomach,
a sense that you should be doing more, fixing more, knowing more.
It’s a lot.
And it’s okay to admit that.
There’s also the quiet fear; the feeling that people are pulling further apart. That we’re divided. Disconnected. Distrusting.
It can feel heavy. And lonely.
But right now, you’re here. With like-minded souls. And that’s the evidence that the news isn’t always right. You are here and that’s what matters.
Let’s start by releasing just a little bit of that weight.
Take a breath. And as you exhale, imagine some of that tension leaving your shoulders.
You don’t need to carry it all. You were never meant to.
Let your shoulders drop. Let your jaw soften. Let your hands rest.
There is nothing urgent in this moment. Just breath. Just presence.
Now bring your attention to something small you do every day. Something repetitive.
Something steady.
Making tea.
Lighting a candle.
Rinsing your face.
Looking at the sky.
These are more than habits. They are rituals.
They remind your body: You are here. You know how to be with yourself. You know how to return.
Let that land for a moment.
Before the overwhelm, before the pressure to keep up, people survived by creating rhythm.
They made bread. They sang together. They watched the seasons.
They gave thanks at the end of the day. Not because everything was perfect, but because they were still here.
Rituals weren’t about performance. They were about anchoring.
And that’s what we’re doing here now.
Take a moment to ask yourself quietly, honestly:
What helps me feel more human when the world feels overwhelming?
What small act brings me back to myself without trying to fix anything?
Let something rise.
Maybe you already know.
Maybe it’s already something you do, you just haven’t named it yet.
That’s your ritual.
Simple. Personal. Powerful.
Let’s take one more deep breath. Let it remind your body that you’re safe right now.
That you’re allowed to slow down.
Breathe in… And out.
Come back to the feeling of your feet on the ground. The way the air moves around you.
The quiet truth that you’re still here.
Still breathing. Still aware. Still capable of creating something steady, even when things feel uncertain.
You don’t need to wait for the world to calm down to begin.
You just need one moment, like this one.
When you’re ready, bring a bit of movement into your fingers… Your shoulders… Let your eyes open gently.
And as you move through the rest of your day, remember this:
You can’t control the noise of the world. But you can return to what grounds you, again and again.
That is your ritual. And it’s enough.
