Ground Yourself

Ground Yourself - Meditation & Transcript
Written & Read by Nicoline Huizinga

Let's begin by finding a comfortable position and you may be sitting—make sure your body feels supported. Let your hands rest gently. Close your eyes if that feels safe for you, if that feels better.

And then let's take a deep, slow breath in through the nose and gently out through the mouth. And let's do that two more times. Inhale and exhale. And one more time. Breathe in deeply and release.

With each breath that you take, feel your body beginning to settle. Feel gravity holding you. Feel the earth supporting you. You're safe here in this moment.

Now let's bring your attention to your feet. Make sure they're on the floor, on the ground. And imagine roots growing from your feet down through the floor, deep into the ground beneath you. With every exhale, the roots stretch a little further, connecting you and anchoring you to the steady heartbeat of the earth.

Feel how deeply rooted you are. How the earth holds you without question, without judgment.

Now, ever so gently, bring your awareness upwards from your feet to your knees, to your hips, to your solar plexus, all the way up to your heart, to your throat, to your mouth, and to the crown of your head.

Imagine a beam of light gently rising from that point, reaching up into the sky, through the atmosphere, beyond the clouds, into the vastness of the universe. Feel yourself connected not just to the earth below, but to the infinite cosmos above, to the stars, to the space between them, to the intelligence that moves galaxies and guides seasons.

And you and I and we are a part of this great mystery. We are woven into the same fabric as the stars.

Now let this dual connection hold you. The earth below, the universe above. They are both here to support you. And you and I and we are the bridge between the earth and the universe. We are grounded and expansive. We are rooted and limitless.

Feel your power between the two.

Now gently bring your attention inward to your heart and to your heart space, and place a hand there if that feels comforting. Now feel and notice the rise and fall of your chest. Put your other hand on your lower belly so you support your body and you can feel your breath. The rise and fall of your chest, the rise and fall of your belly.

This is your doorway. This is a portal to your truest self. Inside you, beyond the thoughts and emotions, beyond the noise of the world, is a quiet truth, a core of light, a knowing, a presence that has always been there—steady, loving, wise—and it's always going to be there for you.

You don't have to do anything special to reach it. You don't have to be perfect. It's not something you have to earn. It's just who you are right here, right now. And it's always there for you.

If any emotions rise like anger, fear, sadness, let them be there. But let them be there like clouds in the sky—passing, moving. They are not you. They are visitors because you are the sky. And your emotions will pass. They will come and go. They are not you and they don't define you.

Connect to this inner light within you. Invite that higher self of you to step forward. And this is the part of you that sees with compassion, that knows your worth, that knows your power and that holds your power gently without fear.

What would this higher self say to you in this moment? Perhaps a word, perhaps a sentence, or just share a feeling. Let it arise and let it land in your heart.

Now imagine that light at your core beginning to grow, shining from your heart outward like a beautiful warm yellow light. It shines from your heart into your chest, into your shoulders, down your arms, into your hands, through your spine, your legs, your feet, until your whole body is bathed in it and surrounded by this beautiful warm yellow light.

Because you are light. We are light. We are rooted. We are powerful. And we're not alone.

And feel that truth resonate through you. And repeat in your head: "I am grounded. I am whole. I am held." And repeat that whenever you need it. And you can always come back to this also—tonight, today, tonight, tomorrow, whenever you want. "I am grounded. I am whole. I am held."

Now let's begin to return gently to the room. Feel the support beneath you. Wiggle your fingers and toes. Take one more deep, nourishing breath in and exhale fully.

When you're ready, you can open your eyes and carry this calm, this connection, this light with you.
